Whenever I'm conerned or bothered by something I often play a little game with my self. As soon as I feel that angry or fearful or annoyed sensation surging up in me, I remind myself to act as though all is well. I know it seems easier said than done - however with practice I've gotten better at it. I simply remind myself that freaking out over any situation, no matter how big or small, will not contribute anything constructive to it so why not just take a breath and behave as though all is in order? I've played this game whenver I'm late and can't find my shoes as well as with more "serious" things and it works like a charm. As Johnny Mercer reminds us in his great song "Dream":
"Things never are as bad as they seem.
So Dream, Dream, Dream"
Indeed!
